The Practice of Democracy: We Hold These Truths invites you to explore the ways democracy shows up in our everyday lives, neighborhoods, and worlds. Visit the exhibit on the High Line at the 14th Street Passage for the full in-person experience during Summer 2022.
Experiencing Democracy
Take a look at the story of Tremont, Bronx, NYC. Over time we can see a spatial history of infractions to democracy. Five key themes to ground a collective understanding of changes to the built environment that fail to deliver on values we aim to uphold as a people:
Human Needs
Systems
Lived Realities
Impact
Frameworks
A similar view from the High Line can be used to reflect on how space is shaped around us. We will display key moments in the spatial history of this area and prepare ourselves to imagine opportunities for the futures we hope to bring to life.
